Skills Validation for Borderless Labor
Integration into European Markets
Skillbridge project
SKILLBRIDGE is a European project dedicated to the validation of migrants’ skills, with the aim of valuing their professional experience and learning pathways and strengthening their access to employment in Europe.
The project addresses migrants, employment agencies, training providers, recruiters, human resources professionals and skills validation stakeholders.
Project duration: November 2024 – April 2027.
Funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
About
THE SKILLBRIDGE PROJECT
Across Europe, soft skills play a crucial role in employability, social inclusion and lifelong learning.
However, their recognition and validation remain uneven, fragmented and often informal.
The project brings together partners from different countries to co-create practical, transferable and sustainable solutions.
SKILLBRIDGE was created to address these challenges by:
- strengthening common approaches to soft skills recognition,
- supporting professionals and organisations working in education, training and social inclusion,
- promoting more inclusive and transparent validation processes at European level.
TARGET GROUPS
The SKILLBRIDGE project targets:
- migrants living in Europe or wishing to work there,
- employment agencies and job platforms,
- training organisations,
- human resources managers and recruiters,
- organisations and professionals specialised in skills validation.

PROJECT RESULTS
SKILLBRIDGE aims to strengthen the recognition and validation of soft skills across Europe, with a particular focus on migrants’ learning and professional pathways.
The project combines research, practical tools and capacity-building activities to support professionals and organisations in implementing more inclusive, transparent and transferable skills validation practices, while contributing to policy dialogue at European level.
The SKILLBRIDGE project will deliver several major results:
SKILLBRIDGE training model for operators
A comprehensive report based on European good practices, including:
* recommendations for the validation of migrants’ non-technical skills,
* a training programme for operators (trainers, employment agencies, HR professionals), including MOOC content.
The SKILLBRIDGE platform
A digital platform dedicated to the validation of migrants’ skills, providing:
* resources to identify, assess and validate skills,
* an artificial intelligence–based assistant offering personalised support,
* a virtual competence framework adapted to migrants’ needs and the European labour market,
* a certification system enabling the registration and sharing of certificates with employment stakeholders.
Small-scale experience
An experimentation phase conducted in partner countries, including:
* national pilot reports on training sessions delivered to operators,
* a European report on experimentation with migrants,
* recommendations based on results and identified good practices.
Multiplier events and policy document
The project includes:
* the organisation of multiplier events in each partner country,
* workshops bringing together policymakers, educators, NGOs, employment agencies and employers,
* the development of a policy document aimed at supporting the design of national and European policies on skills validation and migrant integration.
The document will be translated into several languages and disseminated at European level.
